The core principles of TOP The Onion Group are:
• Responsible management of our environment
• Responsibility for our employees (and external visitors)
• Being a responsible neighbor
• Taking responsibility for promoting good health
Safety, health, and the environment are central concepts at TOP The Onion Group and contribute to the success of the site. The TOP The Onion Group site meets the standards in the areas of safety, health, and the environment and provides all the necessary resources to achieve this. Furthermore, all possible measures are taken to protect employees and others from injury and illness, improve environmental performance, and protect the site, factory, and product from hazards.
TOP The Onion Group complies with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Environmental Protection Act, and other relevant legal regulations. All employees of the organization are therefore aware of the obligations and responsibilities arising from these laws. Together, we create a healthy and safe working environment and protect the environment by controlling the environmental impact of our activities and continuously improving our environmental performance. This policy provides a framework for managing safety, health, and the environment and is communicated to all relevant stakeholders: employees, visitors, contractors, and other involved parties. This is done through notices, the quality manual, and visitor registration. Furthermore, we invest in employee training in safety, health, and the environment and ensure that contractors and suppliers meet our standards.
Our approach to safety is reflected in our “Zero Accidents” philosophy. We believe that every accident can be prevented. We achieve this by investigating (near) accidents, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing preventative measures. The Onion Group invests in improvement programs for monitoring, auditing, and reviewing safety, health, and the environment. This ensures continuous improvement and allows our sites to respond appropriately to changes, guaranteeing the safety of people and the environment.
We acknowledge that our sites use natural resources and generate emissions and waste. We strive to be responsible stewards of the environment by minimizing any potential negative impacts. Our approach to environmental management includes, among other things:
• Managing our air emissions, water discharges, and solid waste disposal to prevent pollution
• Promoting the efficient use of natural resources, especially energy and water, in our operations and supply chains
• Minimizing raw material waste and reducing, reusing, or recycling solid waste wherever possible
• Minimizing the amount of packaging used for our products while meeting food safety and product protection requirements
• Preventing environmental incidents wherever possible and implementing effective emergency procedures to minimize the impact of any incidents
• Monitoring and reporting on our environmental performance, particularly regarding energy and water consumption and waste production, to support continuous improvement and ensure transparency
• Meeting the Social Responsibilities (SR) requirements of RSPO
The site’s environmental performance is regularly monitored and reported. Measures are taken to promote continuous improvement where necessary.
The site’s environmental performance is regularly monitored and reported. The management of TOP The Onion Group is responsible for ensuring compliance with this policy.
